KLG Advisors names Missouri Cities Among Strongest in the Nation for IT Talent in 2011 Study

St. Louis, MO (PRWEB) June 09, 2011

St. Louis and Kansas City, MO have been named two of the top 13 U.S. cities for information technology talent, according to a recent report from KLG Advisors. The KLG study focused on U.S. metros with 20,000 or more employed in the sector, excluding those markets with ultra high costs, such as New York and Washington, DC, where IT compensation can run up to 35% higher.

“Companies with high demand for skilled technologists are increasingly looking to new locations with greater talent availability and lower costs as a means of building a lasting competitive advantage,” said Tim Nitti, Principal of KLG Advisors. “What’s critical is that these companies base their decisions on strong, objective assessments and not rely on commonly held perceptions about where these types of places are.”

IT remains one of the fastest growing industries, partly because other types of business are increasingly dependent on it. With this growth comes a worldwide shortage of qualified workers. With St. Louis ranking 5th for university “grad output” in the KLG report, and Kansas City ranking 7th for labor force concentration and projected growth, Missouri is one of just a handful of states expected to keep up with the demands of the industry.

Explorys Recognized by Leading Analyst Firm as a Cool Vendor 2011

Cleveland, OH (PRWEB) May 04, 2011

Explorys, Inc. announced today that it was named in the Gartner Cool Vendors in Life Sciences 2011 report. This report “highlights five vendors that are bringing new tools to yield greater insights into data. Life science companies face enormous challenges in collecting data from research and commercial activities. These vendors provide tools that permit more flexible access and use of data for research discovery, managing clinical trials, and making decisions to more cost-effectively use resources.”

Each year, Gartner identifies a Cool Vendor as a company that offers technologies or solutions that are: innovative—enabling users to do things they couldn’t do before; impactful—have, or will have, business impact (not just technology for the sake of technology); and intriguing— have caught Gartner’s interest or curiosity in approximately the past six months.

“We’re honored to have received this recognition, especially considering the company that we are in,” stated Charlie Lougheed, Explorys President and Chief Technology Officer. “Data is the next frontier for medical discovery and healthcare delivery optimization. We’re excited to be a driving force in that movement.”

Explorys was founded in 2009 by “big data” pioneers Stephen McHale and Charlie Lougheed as a spinout from the Cleveland Clinic. Since then, Explorys has amassed data from numerous healthcare systems, including the Cleveland Clinic, University Hospitals, MetroHealth, Summa Health System, and MedStar.

The company’s technology is based upon a massively scalable grid computing architecture designed for the unique demands related to the volume and complexity of healthcare data. Its data platforms aggregate and normalize electronic healthcare record (EHR) data across disparate systems, millions of patients and billions of clinical diagnoses, lab tests, medications, devices, and outcomes. Explorys now has contracts with several large pharmaceutical companies, in addition to its growing network of healthcare systems.
